Internship Tracker

Notes and Guidance

Scholarships: Various organizations offer scholarships to support students during their internships.

Rolling Deadlines: If an office has a rolling deadline, you should plan to have your application in no later than the earliest deadline of an office with a fixed deadline for the same semester. In other words, if the earliest deadline of any office for summer internships is March 1, you should plan to have your application in by then.

Contacting Offices: If you have questions about an internship or the application process, don’t hesitate to reach out to the office you’re applying to. Congressional offices have public phone numbers that you can call and speak to a front-office staff member who can answer your questions or direct you to the office’s internship coordinator. For the MGA internship program, you can email studentprograms@mlis.state.md.us.

Which Offices to Apply To: You are most likely to get an internship with a member of Congress or a State Delegate or Senator whose district/state (a) you are from, (b) in which you currently reside, or (c) in which you attend school. You should focus your efforts on those members, but don’t be afraid to apply to others as well. You can find your representatives or those of your school (at both the state and federal levels) by going to mdelect.net and searching by address.
